OHIO REGULATIONS ON TREE TRIMMING AROUND ELECTRIC WIRES
To view the Consumer Fact Sheet regarding Ohio regulations on tree trimming around electric wires. Click on the following highlighted link. Basics of Tree Trimming. The Village Electric Department will be trimming trees to these standards this year and in the future.
FLOWING HYDRANTS
The Village of Milan Water Department will begin flowing hydrants in May. Residents in affected areas may notice a slight discoloration in the water and are advised to let the water run until it clears.
Aggregator and Supplier
Aggregator and Supplier agree that the default fixed price to customers for utility billing cycles beginning December 2022 through March 2023 shall be calculated by adding to the applicable NYMEX final monthly settlement an amount equal to $1.50/MCF. For the utility billing cycles beginning April 2023 through November 2024 the default fixed price to customers shall be $8.09/MCF.

REMINDER TO PET OWNERS
Reminder to pet owners, you are responsible to clean up after your dogs. Violation is a minor misdemeanor and punishable by a fine.
REMOVAL OF ICE & SNOW ON SIDEWALKS
Reminder to Village of Milan residents. Ice and snow shall be removed from sidewalks within twenty-four hours after snowfall of 2 inches or more, per Village Ordinance 901.07.
* COUNCIL MARCH AND APRIL MEETINGS CHANGE IN TIME *
Change in time - The Village of Milan Council meeting time has been changed to begin at 7:00 p.m. for March and April regular Council meetings.
March Council meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. The Meeting will take place at 11 S. Main Street in the Council Room.

Council meetings are open to the public. The Village of Milan welcomes an open-door policy for any concerns or questions you may have. However, to help us prepare, we require a 48-hour notice to be placed on the agenda. To be given the opportunity to speak under our Citizen Participation portion for no more than 5 minutes on your stated topic, please email the Fiscal Officer, Joanne Clapp at the following link email stating your name, address and your question for Council, 48-hours prior to the Council meeting.
PRESIDENT OF COUNCIL RULE OF BEHAVIOR AT A COUNCIL MEETING
The presiding President of Council shall enforce orderly conduct at all meetings and enforce rules of Council.
No person shall recklessly cause inconvenience, annoyance or alarm to another by doing any of the following:
- Engaging in fighting, in threatening harm to persons or property or in a violent or turbulent behavior;
- Making unreasonable noise or an offensively coarse utterance, gesture or display or communicating unwarranted and grossly abusive language to any person;
- Insulting, taunting or challenging another, under circumstances in which that conduct is likely to provoke a violent response;
- Creating a condition that is physically offensive to persons or that presents a risk of physical harm to person or property by any act that serves no lawful and reasonable purpose of the offender.
DESIGN REVIEW BOARD MEETING
The Village of Milan Design Review Board will hold a Meeting on Wednesday April 24, 2024 at 6:00 p.m.

2024 BRUSH PICKUP and YARD WASTE SCHEDULE
Brush Pickup Information
The Village will resume brush pickup program beginning on Monday April 1st. Brush pickup will then continue the first Monday of each month except for Labor Day in September (which will be performed on Monday, September 9th). The last brush pickup will be on Monday, October 7th. Please remember no yard waste or garden refuse, shrubs, roots or complete tree removal will be picked up (this includes brush from a complete tree removal). Please do not place items for pickup on the tree lawn in front of your home until the day before the scheduled pickup. In an effort to assist the Street Department please lay your brush in one direction.
Yard Waste Pickup Information
The Village Spring and Fall yard waste pickup for this year will begin on April 8th. Residents who have material for collection should place their material curbside, the day before the scheduled pickup, according to the following:
1) All material for collection must be yard waste only (grass, weeds and shrubs) free from trash and plastic. Absolutely no plastic or stones.
2) Maximum container weight 50 pounds.
3) Material will be collected in the following: Compostable Kraft paper bags, cardboard boxes or 30 gallon trash containers clearly marked “YARD WASTE”. Bulk bushes should be tied with jute twine, no wire or nylon.
Village employees will pick up on the dates listed above unless there is an emergency. We will have the yard waste dumpster at the Street Department for the week yard waste is scheduled Monday through Friday morning.
Please note that this notice is for Village of Milan Residents not Milan Township Residents. Township Residents will have to check with the Township on their scheduled brush pickup dates.

The Village of Milan is pleased to introduce to our utility customers a communication tool that will allow us to quickly send emergency or informational messages to our residents. Each resident can have up to six phone numbers per household. This will allow for messages to be sent to home phones, work phones, cell phones, etc. Click here complete the form to sign up for this service. ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION NAMES MILAN TREE CITY USA FOR THE 20TH CONSECUTIVE YEAR
On Thursday April 27, 2023, the Village of Milan held an Arbor Day Tree Planting Ceremony. Mayor Pamela Crosby was assisted by the Village of Milan Street, Electric and Water Departments and Village resident Lorri Keyser in planting a Redpointe Maple on South Main Street. Mayor Crosby read an Arbor Day Proclamation at a recent Council Meeting on April 26, 2023. Pictured left to right Lorri Keyser and Mayor Pamela Crosby.
Milan, OH, was named a 2021 Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management.
Milan achieved Tree City USA recognition by meeting the program's four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
"Tree City USA communities see the impact an urban forest has in a community first hand," said Dan Lambe, president of the Arbor Day Foundation. "Additionally, recognition brings residents together and creates a sense of community pride, whether it's through volunteer engagement or public education."
Trees provide multiple benefits to a community when properly planted and maintained. They help to improve the visual appeal of a neighborhood, increase property values, reduce home cooling costs, remove air pollutants and provide wildlife habitat, among many other benefits.
